Hans Christian Cars has extensive experience from national and international public
administration, inter alia, from nine years as deputy director and chief economist at
the Swedish Ministry of Defence and since 1987 from leading managerial positions in
three major international organizations, i.e. UNRWA, OSCE and IAEA.
His areas of responsibility have comprised most major administrative functions such as
finance, personnel, logistics, engineering services, procurement, IT and Communications.
In addition to his service in large international organizations, he has also served as Chairman of a
multinational Group of Experts to which he was assigned by the UN Secretary-General. The Group focused on various aspects of military budgeting and expenditures. Under Mr. Cars’ chairmanship from 1982-85, the Group submitted two unanimously adopted reports to the General Assembly.
Hans Christian Cars holds a Ph.D in Economics from the Stockholm University.
